EAST HILLS - East Hills is one of Nassau County's safer communities, but two recent incidents prompted village officials to organize their security commission Monday evening.

The first incident was a home invasion that occurred on Wildwood Lane in early December. About a week later, a robbery happened on Peacock Drive.

Among the proposals introduced to boost safety are better street lighting and using license plate scanning technology. Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman also discussed placing cameras at village entrance and exit points.

Village Mayor Michael Koblenz introduced a bumper sticker prototype to help better identify village residents.

Koblenz says village officials will hold another meeting to vote on some of the security proposals discussed in about three weeks.
