EAST QUOGUE - The long Memorial Day weekend means the start of summer profits for many East End businesses.

Dockers Waterside Restaurant in East Quogue set a record for visitors on Memorial Day weekend. There were also big crowds on the North Fork checking out the farm stands and the wineries.

The area got a lot of visitors from other countries, as well as out-of-state tourists and New York City residents. 

People in the tourism industry hope Memorial Day weekend is a good sign of what lies ahead this summer. 

It is estimated that Long Island's tourism industry employs more than 50,000 people.
