HOLBROOK - A new Sept. 11 tribute was unveiled today in Holbrook, created by an East Northport teen.

Matthew Merlino created the memorial as his Eagle Scout service project.

The memorial, located outside the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) building, honors those who lost their lives in the attacks, the first responders and the CAP aircrews who took to the skies in the days following the attack to assist the first responders.

The memorial features a 110-pond steel beam from the World Trade Center that Merlino obtained after writing a letter to the Port Authority about his project.
