Driver killed, teen hurt when car hits 2 homes

Police say a man lost control of his car on Great Neck Road in North Amityville last night.

NORTH AMITYVILLE - Police say a North Amityville man is dead after he lost control of his car and crashed into two homes last night.

Investigators say Roger Castro was driving on Great Neck Road when he jumped the curb and slammed into a vacant house. The car then crashed into a second home, which had people inside.

Castro was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old passenger, Edwin Cruz, was hospitalized in serious condition.

One of the residents inside the second home was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains unclear.
