WOODBURY - An accused wrong-way driver who killed a Long Island man could take an unusual plea.
Police say Dave Richards was driving drunk and in the wrong direction when he slammed into an airport shuttle on the LIE in Flushing.
Shuttle driver John Rey of Greenlawn died in July.
According to Newsday, Richards could plead guilty to a higher charge of manslaughter. Richards is now charged with vehicular assault.
It is not clear how the plea would affect his sentence.
