CENTRAL ISLIP - A Baldwin doctor faces 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty today to distributing Oxycodone to people he knew were drug addicts.

Two of the people who received pills from Dr. William Conway, Giovanni Manzella and Christopher Basmas, later died of overdoses.

Conway pleaded guilty to conspiracy to illegally distribute Oxycodone, but not to charges relating to the deaths of Manzella and Basmas.

Conway was arrested last year and accused of running a “pill mill” where he handed out prescriptions for the powerful pain medication like it was candy.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Conway wrote thousands of prescriptions for the highly addictive Oxycodone without performing even the most basic medical exam.
