MINEOLA - ? Dozens of Nassau County workers are waking up this morning after being laid off yesterday.

The workers hugged and consoled each other when they left their county offices in Mineola.

Workers say they are worried about living without health insurance and losing their homes.

Most of the layoffs came from the county?s assessor?s office. Workers in the county?s attorney?s office, as well as IT, parks and social services were also affected. On Tuesday, county legislators voted to take 128 union workers off the payroll. They said the move would save Nassau County $10.6 million a year.
