MINEOLA - The Sands Point cardiologist accused in a murder-for-hire plot is expecting to soon head back to work.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, Dr. Anthony Moschetto, who worked in Great Neck, sold blank prescription pads, pain pills and assault weapons.

The 54-year-old divorced father of two children was the alleged mastermind of an elaborate plot to have his former business associate and fellow cardiologist Dr. Martin Handler beaten and killed over a business dispute.

Moschetto appeared in Mineola court Friday for a conference. He previously posted $2 million bail.

Outside the courtroom, Moschetto's lawyer says that he will be back in the office as soon as prosecutors return patient files, which were seized Tuesday.

Prosecutors say that investigators found guns, knives and a hand grenade inside a hidden room in Moschetto's basement.
