MINEOLA - The second time was apparently the charm for a robbery suspect in Mineola.

Police say a man tried to rob a Walgreens pharmacy on Jericho Turnpike yesterday with his hand in his pocket to simulate a weapon. When the cashier couldn't get the register open, he took off.

A few moments later, police say the same suspect walked into a CVS pharmacy just down the road and demanded cash. A 20-year-old female cashier handed over an undetermined amount of money in a plastic bag. No injuries were reported.

The man fled the store on foot, but was later spotted on a mountain bike heading south.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s who was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes and a black ski cap pulled over his face.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
