FREEPORT - A teenager wanted for attempted murder turned himself in today and pleaded not guilty.

Deric Douglas, 17, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges this afternoon.

Police say Douglas shot a teen in the head on Independence Avenue in Freeport on Aug. 10. The teen survived.

The mother of Douglas’ alleged victim says her son continues to recover.

Prosecutors claim Douglas is a member of the "Seymour Avenue" street gang.

Douglas’ bail is set at $100,000.
