DEER PARK - Firefighters with the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department took time off from fighting fires to hand out toys to needy kids.

The department took part in its 18th annual Santa's Run, where the firefighters deliver toys to the needy families in a convoy of fire trucks.

This year, nearly a dozen families were surprised by the firefighters who delivered the presents.

"We usually come to see people on their worst day so it's nice to come on a day and celebrate and make it a good day for them and their families," said Chief Thomas Richardson.
