SOUND BEACH - The American Dream came true today for a decorated war veteran and his family who officially moved into their new Sound Beach home. Army Staff Sgt. Omar Domenech is a Purple Heart recipient who served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. "I'm proud of the service I have done," he says. "I'm a social worker with vets, so I'm still serving."Domenech's brand-new three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was built on donated land by volunteers with the Long Island Home Builders Care and Development Corporation, the charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute. The Domenech family purchased the home for $100,000. Long Island Home Builders is now preparing to build more homes for veterans in Ronkonkoma and Islandia.
