AMITYVILLE - An Amityville woman who operates a day care center is accused of leaving two young children alone in a car while she went into a busy store.Officials say Bridget Erwat left a 4-year-old girl and an 8-month-old baby alone in a car at the Melville Costco. A witness spotted the children, reached through an open window, unlocked the car and took them inside. Police say the children were alone for at least 10 minutes, but were not hurt. The infant was also not secured in a proper child seat, police say.Officials say Child Protective Services has been notified. Erwat's home day care service, called Bridget's Children's Place, has had its license temporarily suspended pending an investigation.
