SYOSSET - Police say a wild ride on the Long Island Expressway lead to a 100 mph police chase that ended with a crash and a DWI arrest.

Police say they attempted to pull over David Thompson, 32, of Far Rockaway, for speeding near exit 55 on the LIE in Hauppauge. The chase ended at exit 43 in Syosset.

According to police, Thompson got off the exit because of construction, but he crashed into an 18-wheeler and a cop car.

Thompson is charged with DWI and reckless driving. 

The police officer involved in the crash is OK.
