DA Magalhaes-Lemos accused of DUI in crash on LIE at exit 55

The incident happened early this morning, but closed the highway for hours into the morning rush.

COMMACK - Police say a driver was high on drugs behind the LIE crash that snarled the morning commute in Commack on Monday. 

According to police, DA Magalhaes-Lemos, of Farmingville, 22, rear-ended a motorcycle with his SUV on the eastbound side of the LIE right near exit 55.

The incident happened early this morning, but police closed the highway for hours into the morning rush.

The Blue Point woman driving the motorcycle went flying, suffering serious injuries to her ribs and back.

Magalhaes-Lemos is now charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
