Customers of defunct catering hall waiting for refunds

Customers of a West Islip catering hall that went out of business were promised refunds, but some of them say they are still waiting for

WEST ISLIP - Customers of a West Islip catering hall that went out of business were promised refunds, but some of them say they are still waiting for their checks in the mail.

Rachel Bonfiglio planned to dance the night away at her Sweet 16 birthday party at La Grange Inn. In December, however, the catering hall sent a letter to its customers giving them the bad news.

At the time, News 12 Long Island was told by the management of La Grange Inn that refunds would be on their way within 10 days.

Suffolk Consumer Affairs says of the five complaints against the business, three have been refunded, while two are pending, including the Bonfiglios' case. Theirs is the largest refund, totaling $2,000.

Bonfiglio says she was able to find another place for the party, but working with a smaller budget, she had to make adjustments.

An account has been set up through the catering hall's attorney to refund the rest of money.
