ALBANY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave his third State of the State address today and his remarks were chock full of ideas, proposals and projects for everything from education to women's rights.

To improve education, Cuomo called for an increase in the length of school days, or school years, or both. He also proposed full-day pre-school programs across the state, especially in low-income areas.

Cuomo said in his speech that he would push hard to raise the state minimum wage, from its current $7.25 level up to $8.75.

The governor also proposed expanding gambling in New York and called for three casinos upstate. He didn't mention Long Island's Shinnecock Indian Nation, which has been trying to open a casino of its own.

The governor got his loudest applause when he talked about a women's equality act, a 10-point plan that covers everything from equal play to strengthening order of protection laws.

Analysts have said Cuomo is starting his third year as governor with a 70 percent approval rating, allowing him to push his agenda more forcefully.
