Cuomo's pay freeze leaves workers' union rankled

HAUPPAUGE - Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D-N.Y.) plan to freeze the pay of state employees is not going over well with union members.

"We serve the public each and every day and we don't do it for a hell of a lot of money," says Civil Service Employees Association President Nick LaMorte.

LaMorte says the new governor's State of the State speech today was not as doom-and-gloom as he expected it to be, adding he was pleased to hear Cuomo mention he was giving three labor leaders positions on one of his transition councils.

"He's including us and that's a good thing," LaMorte says.
