WOODBURY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that this weekend you can fish anywhere in the state without a license.

New York has 7,500 lakes and ponds and 50,000 miles of rivers and streams.

This Saturday and Sunday, you can fish for free without paying the normal yearly fee of $25.

The move is part of Gov. Cuomo’s "Open for Fishing and Hunting Initiative."

The program aims to boost tourism throughout the state. 

There is also two other weekends this summer that will also be free, but the dates have not been set.
