WOODBURY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo activated the state's Emergency Operations Center ahead of impending storms.

The National Weather Service says that the storms headed for the state could become severe and may spawn tornadoes.

Cuomo is urging all New Yorkers to be prepared for the storms, including making sure flashlights and portable radios are ready in case of power outages.
