ISLIP - Islip Town Councilwoman Trish Bergin has been removed as deputy Islip Town supervisor.

Last night, Islip Town Supervisor Tom Croci announced the appointment of Linda Agnello as deputy supervisor to assist him in the daily operations of town government.

The move is the latest exchange in the political battle between Islip Town Supervisor Tom Croci and his four fellow Republican town board members.

Last night, residents packed town hall, and the Republican town board members said Croci needs help in hiring, firing, purchasing and media relations.

Councilwoman Bergin tells News 12 Long Island it's not political. However, she said it's clear to Croci's fellow Republican board members that he needs help negotiating all residents' needs, especially with all the work ahead after Hurricane Sandy.

Croci calls it politics and is now asking the state to review whether the board can legally vote to share in those powers.
