PLAINVIEW - ? Some severe storms swept across Long Island late last night causing some damage in the area.

The violent storms toppled trees and sparked hundreds of outages across Long Island.

Workers continue to cut up branches of trees that toppled over in Plainview. The weather also uprooted a tree that fell on a car in Bethpage.

The rain and hail came down so hard that some drivers had to pull over and wait for it to stop.

Officials say the downpours also caused some streets to flood.

LIPA said for those who had their power knocked out, they should be up and running now.
