Court officer accidentally shoots himself at Federal Courthouse in Central Islip

Police confirm one person was shot during an accidental shooting at the Central Islip courthouse.

The unidentified person had minor injuries.

CENTRAL ISLIP - A court officer accidentally shot himself in the arm at the Federal Courthouse in Central Islip this morning.

Police say the 67-year-old man was in a locker room at the courthouse and was taking his gun out of his off-duty holster when it went off.

He was hospitalized and treated for a bullet wound to his arm. No one else was injured.
