CORAM - A Coram man is now facing animal cruelty charges after his dog was found locked alone in a house, severely emaciated and clinging to life.

SPCA investigators say Michael Faulkner was responsible for taking care of his family's dog, named Queenie. The dog used to weigh about 105 pounds, but she weighed just 47 pounds after she was starved for three weeks.

Queenie is now recovering at Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, where rescuers say she's getting lots of love and attention. She has already gained about 17 pounds, and has a loving home lined up.
