OAK BEACH - Homicide investigators and K-9 units were out again today searching for clues in the Gilgo Beach bodies case, but say they came up empty-handed.

Police scoured Robert Moses Causeway near Captree State Park using a ladder truck, cadaver dogs and ATVs, looking for more possible human remains, including the body of missing prostitute Shannan Gilbert.

Cops also came up empty-handed yesterday after scouring the southern part of the Wantagh State Parkway.

The news is discouraging for Gilbert's family, which has hired an attorney and a private investigator to help find the missing woman.

Officials say at least nine bodies have been found along Ocean Parkway since December. Four of them have been identified as Craigslist prostitutes.

State police say they believe they've done a thorough job looking for remains and are not planning any future searches of the area.

Gilbert's loved ones, however, say they are not ready to give up and will continue the search.
