CENTRAL ISLIP - A Lindenhurst woman now faces federal drug charges after police say she was caught picking up packages filled with cocaine from a UPS store before leading them on a chase yesterday.According to the U.S. Postal Service, the chase began as federal agents were following up on a tip that cocaine was being sent to the Lindenhurst UPS site from Phoenix, Ariz. Police say Stephanie Filippone, 24, was picking the packages up. Agents say they waited for Filippone to collect the parcels, and when she did, they followed her. The chase lasted about 5 miles along Sunrise Highway from North Lindenhurst to Bay Shore, where Filippone crashed into a parked car. Federal agents then swarmed her BMW. According to postal service officials, the packages that Filippone picked up contained 4 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of $100,000.Investigators say they've been monitoring Fillippone since May as part of a larger drug investigation. Officers say Fillippone was already on probation for two prior drug convictions.
