Cops: Teen driver, Cory Bennett, high on drugs in W. Babylon crash

WEST BABYLON - Police say the teenage driver of a van that struck a utility pole in West Babylon last night was high on drugs.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when the van hit the pole at 9th Street and 1st Avenue.

Officials say Cory Bennett, 19, of West Babylon, is accused of driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Police say Bennett was treated for a possible overdose and also faces federal charges because there was a minor who was 15 years old in the van.

The 15-year-old and three other passengers were not hurt.
