HEMPSTEAD - Police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect who they say is behind a string of burglaries in Nassau County.
According to detectives, James Wells-Jones, of Syosset, acted with three accomplices and entered a home in Lakeview by forcing open a window yesterday.
Once inside, police say Wells-Jones and the subjects took a flat-screen television and left the home.
Investigators say when the burglars were confronted by a witness in front of the home, they put the television down and fled on foot.
After a description of the subjects was broadcasted, police located and arrested Wells-Jones less than half a mile from the scene of the crime.
Detectives have linked Wells-Jones to four additional burglaries in Lakeview dating back to Sept. 30.
Wells-Jones pleaded not guilty today to five counts of burglary. He will be tried as an adult. A judge set the teen?s bond at $100,000.
