NORTH LINDENHURST - ? Cops are searching for a person who hit and ran from an accident that mowed down a North Lindenhurst man.

The accident happened on Straight Path near 38th Street last night. Cops say 41-year-old Brian Doherty, of North Lindenhurst, was trying to cross the street when a car hit him and took off.

Cops are looking for a light-colored four-door car that likely has front end damge. Doherty is expected to survive.
