ALBERTSON - ? A man barricaded himself in a house in Alberston for hours today, but he is now in police custody, according to Newsday.

Police were on Hilltop Place trying to negotiate with the man for hours today. The road was blocked off and some people in surrounding homes were asked to evacuate as a precaution. Those residents have since been allowed back in their homes.

It is unclear if the man had any weapons. Police said earlier they didn't believe the man had taken any hostages. There is still no word on what sparked the standoff.
