MEDFORD - Police say a motorcyclist is dead after slamming into a tractor-trailer in Medford tonight.

According to authorities, the accident happened on the Long Island Expressway's north service road between exits 65 and 64 just after 7:00 p.m.

Sources tell News 12 Long Island that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed when he slammed into the back of the 18-wheeler.

Suffolk police have not identified the victim and say they are still investigating. They also have yet to confirm whether speed played a factor in the crash.
