FARMINGVILLE - A Moriches man is accused of pointing a fake gun at another driver during a Christmas Day road rage incident.
Investigators say it was just before noon when 36-year-old Brian Deuchar D'Angelis got into a traffic dispute with another motorist in the southbound lanes on Nicolls Road in Farmingville. Prosecutors say Deuchar rolled down his window and pointed what appeared to be a black pistol at the other driver, although the pistol later proved to be fake.
Deuchar allegedly followed the other driver down toward the Long Island Expressway after pointing the imitation gun. The other motorist took down Deuchar's license plate number and called police, who put out an alert for the car. Deuchar was lated spotted in the Village of Northport, where police found the fake gun and arrested him.
D'Angelis was arraigned on menacing and weapons charges today. Prosecutors noted that he has six prior convictions, including for menacing, harrassment, sexual abuse and assault.
Deuchar's legal aid attorney says his client pointed the fake gun as "almost a joke." However, the judge ordered Deuchar held on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
