Cops: Merrick man killed in hit-and-run

A Merrick man was killed in a hit-and-run on Babylon Turnpike Monday morning, according to police.Officials say 25-year-old William Long was walking near his home

MERRICK - A Merrick man was killed in a hit-and-run on Babylon Turnpike Monday morning, according to police.

Officials say 25-year-old William Long was walking near his home when he was struck by a car and left for dead.

Long was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead four hours later.

Police believe Long was hit by someone driving a maroon-colored Nissan Altima that has damage to the driver's side.
