CORAM - Police are trying to track down the driver who struck a man in Coram early Saturday morning and then drove off, leaving him to die in the street.

Suffolk police say the victim was struck shortly before 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 112. The incident happened between Granny Road and Route 25.

The identity of the man who was killed has not yet been released.

Police believe the victim was walking along the road when he was struck. They say a passing driver saw the body in the road and called 911.

Investigators say they are looking for a light-colored sedan, possibly silver, gray or tan. The vehicle likely has significant lower front-end damage.
