RONKONKOMA - Police are trying to track down the Grinch-like crook who stole holiday packages right off of someone's front porch in Ronkonkoma.

The Perry family says their home surveillance system captured images of a man stealing Christmas presents that had been delivered earlier in the day. The boxes contained picture frames, ornaments, a blender and a toy Hess truck, which was meant to be a gift for their 6-month-old son as he celebrated his first Christmas.

The family thought their packages had been lost in the mail until they checked the surveillance system, which has two cameras pointed right at the front door. When light is low, the cameras switch to infrared photography.

June and Andrew Perry say they don't wish any harm for the culprit, because they surmise that he must have been desperate to stoop to stealing. The couple says that the theft hasn't ruined their holiday, especially because of the recent addition to their family.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
