GREAT NECK - Residents in two Nassau neighborhoods say they are alarmed today after learning new details about the man who allegedly burglarized their communities last month.

Police say the man caught on surveillance video is not only the suspect in a recent string of home break-ins, but is also behind a hammer attack in Hempstead and the rape of a 2-year-old girl in Texas.

Police held a meeting last night to inform the community about new developments in the case. Detectives say DNA found in a hat the suspect left behind matches the DNA found in the rape and hammer cases.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
