HOLTSVILLE - Police say a Central Islip man is facing charges after an alleged road rage incident off of the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville.

Investigators say the incident happened on the Nicolls Road exit of the LIE on Wednesday morning when a driver noticed a white BMW tailgating him. After exiting the highway, the driver says the BMW cut him off, causing two other cars nearby to get into a minor collision.

That's when police say Jason Parker, 25, of Central Islip, exited his BMW with a baseball bat. He allegedly used the bat to smash windows on the other driver's car and punched the driver in the face.

Police say the other motorist got Parker's license plate and snapped a cellphone picture of him before Parker drove off. Investigators say they tracked Parker down and charged him with assault.

The drivers of the two other cars involved in the collision were not injured, police say.
