ELMONT - Police say they now believe that the Elmont couple found dead inside their home last night died of a murder-suicide, and News 12 Long Island has learned that it was the couple's teenage son who first discovered something was wrong.

Police say 58-year-old Audley "Curtis" Dennis and his wife, 46-year old Karen Rodgers-Dennis, were discovered dead.

Neighbors tell News 12 Long Island that the Dennis' son arrived at the family's Sussex Avenue yesterday to find he couldn't open the front or back doors even with his key, as though they had been bolted from the inside.

The teen went to a neighbor's house, who called police over a possible gas leak in the home. Police forced their way inside and found the couple dead, although they have not yet confirmed who killed whom.

A family friend says the couple had been married for more than 20 years and had three children, two in college and a third who attends Elmont High School. The friend says the couple had recently been fighting, but that he didn't notice anything unusual when he saw the Dennis' four days ago.
