VALLEY STREAM - Police say a couple in their 80s were the the latest victims of a distraction burglary in Nassau County.

According to police, a man went to a home on North Cottage Avenue in Valley Stream Monday.

The man allegedly told the couple that he was from the water department and needed to check the water pressure.

Police say an accomplice took cash from the home while the man distracted the couple.

The victim discovered the money missing yesterday and contacted police and the water company, who said it did not have anyone working in the area checking water pressure.

Police are not linking this heist to similar cases in Westbury, Syosset and Herricks.

Anyone with information can call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-224-TIPS.
