MINEOLA - A convicted killer was sentenced to 25 years to life this morning for a murder committed more than two decades ago.

In November, a jury found Joey Bethea guilty of killing 22-year-old Dorothy LeConte, whose body was found in a creek near Hempstead High School in 1989.

LeConte's murder was unsolved for more than 20 years, but DNA linked Bethea to the killing in 2009.

Her family says it is relieved to finally receive justice, but that its anger was reignited after Bethea told them in court today that he didn't do it.
