CONNETQUOT - A recent Facebook post by a Connetquot School Board trustee has some critics calling for his resignation.

In the post, Ted Imbasciani said "Kill those who are mentally insane" in the wake of the recent shooting at an Oregon community college.

The post dealt mostly with his opposition to stricter gun control laws.

The post also cited "liberal idiots such as educators" and said "I want to punch him in the face" in reference to President Barack Obama.

The Connetquot teachers union says it has sent a letter to the state Board of Education calling for the removal of Imbasciani as a school board trustee.

According to Newsday, Imbasciani apologized during a school board meeting Tuesday night. "I apologize for getting everyone so riled up," said Imbasciani. "I hope that's enough."

Imbasciani was elected to the board in 2013.
