Commuters fed up with ongoing LIRR delays

Signal problems once again kept many LIRR trains on hold this evening, forcing riders to deal with lingering delays. All LIRR branches except the Port

HICKSVILLE - Signal problems once again kept many LIRR trains on hold this evening, forcing riders to deal with lingering delays. All LIRR branches except the Port Washington line were delayed for the evening rush. Some passengers were stuck for over 45 minutes. Delayed and canceled trains have been the norm recently, especially after lightning struck the tracks two weeks ago and tinkered with the new signal system. "It's always something," said commuter Sarah Durkin, of Plainview. "It's always switch problems. Whether it is or isn't, I'm not really sure." LIRR officials say the problem has been resolved, and that most trains are running on or close to schedule.LIRR switch problems cause headaches for evening commute
