BRENTWOOD - An employee at the Suffolk County Community College campus in Brentwood is accused of secretly recording a student.

Police say 32-year-old David Marchese, a custodian at the campus, used his cellphone to record a young woman underneath a table. Police say it happened during an awards ceremony, and Marchese appeared to be aiming his phone up the woman's dress.

Officials say someone spotted what was happening and notified security, who called police. Marchese, of Islip, was arrested and charged with unlawful surveillance.

Officials at SCCC released a statement saying that its public safety staff responded immediately by contacting Suffolk police. The college says disciplinary action is forthcoming.

Marchese was arraigned today and was ordered held on $10,000 bond. He is due back in court next week.

Marchese also works at Stop & Shop in Bay Shore. Detectives are asking anyone else who believes they could be a victim to call Suffolk's Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
