CEDAR BEACH - A group of young kids are learning important lessons on how to stay safe on the water while protecting the environment.

U.S. Coast Guard volunteers are teaching the students during a weeklong camp at the Sport Fishing Education Center in Cedar Beach.

Camp director Tracey Marcus says the children are learning what to do while on a boat, including the importance of life vests, as well as what they can do to keep the water and sea life healthy.
