Coast Guard rescues boater in Moriches Inlet

MORICHES INLET - Officials say a boater was pulled from the frigid waters in Moriches Inlet last night. The Coast Guard says a boater saw another boat sinking in 6-8 foot waves east of the Inlet.

The boater tossed the man a line, but the boat drifted away. The man called for help.

The Coast Guard, Suffolk's Marine Unit and a police chopper found the boater who drifted off, sitting on top of his capsized boat.

The boater is expected to be OK.

The rescue is the third in Moriches Inlet in the past three days.
