WOODBURY - A moving effort to fight ALS is underway.

Chris Pendergast, of Miller Place, is once again leading the way in the annual Ride for Life. Pendergast has battled ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, for years.

Pendergast is riding his wheelchair to Manhattan and hopes to reach Central Park on May 18.

News 12’s Elizabeth Hashagen, who is along for the Ride for Life, says riders picked up $2,500 at the Clayton Huey Elementary School in Center Moriches today, where one little girl lost her dad to ALS.
