WEST HEMPSTEAD - A Nassau cop accused of stealing baby food faced a judge this afternoon. As News 12 Long Island has reported, Thomas Welsh was charged with shoplifting $40 worth of baby food.

Welsh?s charges were adjourned in contemplation of dismissal with 14 hours of community service. This means if Welsh does not re-offend and completes the service assignment, the judge will drop the charges.

The incident happened at the West Hempstead Stop and Shop in April. Welsh was suspended from the force for 30 days but is now back on the job.
