Central Islip School District officials say they are stepping up efforts to prevent suspected marijuana and cigarette use on school grounds.

The crackdown comes after school officials say a parent and a grandparent of students brought up the issue at a school board meeting Monday. They told the board that their kids came home complaining about the smell of marijuana in their high school classrooms.
