CENTRAL ISLIP - Students in Central Islip could be losing 154 teachers and many of their school programs.

The Central Islip school board says it?s trying to fill a $5 million budget hole. In addition to teacher layoffs, the board is considering scrapping some clubs, sports and music programs.

Many students showed up to a school board meeting last night, where they asked the board to reconsider.

Some parents said they?d pay higher taxes to save jobs and programs.
