Cause unclear after LIRR train sideswipe incident

A minor train collision impacted Long Island Rail Road service Friday night.

The eastbound train, which was headed for Huntington, was at the platform at the time, so all of the passengers were able to get off the train.

JAMAICA - The Long Island Rail Road is operating on or close to schedule systemwide on Saturday following a train collision east of Jamaica.

An eastbound train to Huntington collided with a westbound train from Montauk at around 6 p.m. Friday near the Jamaica station.

The train headed for Huntington was at the platform at the time.

There were no reported injuries. The cause is unclear.
